Catholic Campus Ministry is providing a "Prayer Series" this spring semester to learn about different forms of prayer in the Catholic Church.
This session, on April 4th at 3:30PM in VISER in the library, we will be practicing Visio Divina, which is praying with art.
Below are the other forms of prayer we will be leading in this Prayer Series:
March 30th, 12:30PM in VISER: Stations of the Cross
April 28th, 10:00AM in CAS 406: Rosary
What is the Visio Divina?
Latin for, "sacred seeing," visio divina is an ancient form of Christian prayer in which we allow our hearts and imaginations to enter into a sacred image, in silence, to see what God might have to say to us. This practice involves being receptive to contemplative silence, reflecting on biblical stories or accounts depicted, and praying to hear God's call and message. If anyone feels called, they can share with the group their thought on the artwork and the feelings evoked from it.
Not interested? Don't worry.
Praying with art work is only one way to pray, so if you try it and it is not for you, don't worry. You can always check out the other "mini lessons" and sessions on some different forms of prayer in our Prayer Series if you are interested in learning about other ways you can strengthen your relationship with the Lord.
