Catholic Campus Ministry is providing a "Prayer Series" this spring semester to learn about different forms of prayer in the Catholic Church.
This session, on March 20th at 8:45am in East Campus 218, we will be explaining and praying the Divine Office, or the Liturgy of the Hours.
Below are the other forms of prayer we will be leading in this Prayer Series:
March 30th, 12:30PM in VISER: Stations of the Cross
April 4th, 3:30PM in VISER: Visio Divina
What is the Liturgy of the Hours?
This is a public prayer of the Catholic Church, which includes hymns, psalms, readings, and prayers according to the liturgical calendar. It is based in the psalms and is a way to pray with scripture throughout the day- There are five “hours” during the day: Morning, Daytime, Evening, Night, and Office of Readings. (We will be doing the morning prayer). This only takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Not interested? Don't worry.
The Liturgy of the Hours is only one way to pray, so if you try it and it is not for you, don't worry. You can always check out the other "mini lessons" and sessions on some different forms of prayer in our Prayer Series if you are interested in learning about other ways you can strengthen your relationship with the Lord.
